WWII German M1911 K98 Rifle Ammunition Pouch - Early Pattern Gallery
Unless noted, these are 1938 early pattern pouches from my personal collection. This type of pattern has two belt straps that wrap under each of the two outer pockets and slips over a post on the bottom. Hardware is all aluminum. Thanks to Jeff M for allowing me to feature his brown pouch dated 1938, "WILHELM HANSEN & BRAUN".

Kriegsmarine marked with eagle and swastika stamp below and to the right of the equipment loop. Dark brown pebbled leather with all aluminum hardware. All ammunition clip dividers are present. KM impression of an eagle measures about 10 mm across, 8 mm from top of eagle head to bottom of circle with swastika. Diamond Gothic style letter "M" under eagle is about 3mm high and 4mm across. Hardware is all aluminum. The riveted hardware is painted black indicating this may be a Russian capture pouch. All ammunition clip dividers are present. Inventory ink stamp under center lid "38", possibly "B 38". (20061125)

Brown leather dyed black per wartime regulations. Hardware is all aluminum. Each of the three pockets have an ammunition clip divider. Inside middle lid has a handwritten name "B. Lohm???". Kriegsmarine acceptance stamp is over the maker mark. (20080429)
Natural leather dyed black per wartime regulations. Hardware is all aluminum. The ammunition clip dividers are missing. Belt strap has a handwritten name "A. König " and on either side og the KM acceptance stamp, the letters "A" and "K". Kriegsmarine acceptance stamp is over the maker mark. (20081221-07)
Kriegsmarine marked with eagle and swastika stamp on right-hand belt strap. Dark brown pebbled leather. Hardware is all aluminum as is typical with early pattern pouches. No ammunition clip dividers are present and have been removed. Illegible ink stamp under center lid that may read in part, ???besten Batt????. Small KM acceptance stamp on belt strap. The eagle wing measures about 8.2mm across, circle is 2.5 mm, and 5mm from top to bottom of circle. Letter "M" under eagle is about 2mm square. (20070115)
Pebbled brown leather dyed black. Back was dyed but is light. Maker mark text in straight line. All aluminum fittings. All dividers present. The two vertical belt straps (smooth finish) are under the lower retaining straps. Strap for right side pocket lid has been replaced and appears to be a WWII period repair. (20061108)
Natural colored pebbled leather, dyed black. Most of the dye has worn off. Maker mark text in straight line. All aluminum fittings and all ammunition dividers are missing. The two vertical belt straps (smooth finish) are under the lower retaining straps. (20090128)
Chocolate brown pebbled leather. Maker mark text in straight line. All aluminum fittings. All dividers present. The two vertical belt straps (smooth finish) are under the lower retaining straps. Brown thread used throughout contruction which is consistant with Luftwaffe pouches. Ink stamp inside middle lid "6/104" with illegible character impressions. Black paint on all metal fittings indicates a Russian capture pouch. (20071214-01)

The two vertical belt straps (smooth finish) are under the lower retaining straps. The two outer lids straps are very difficult to fit over bottom posts. Interestingly, each of the three lid straps have a hole in the center. The location of "NIEDERDONAU" translates to the Lower Danube in Austria. (20081228-01)

Unit marked chocolate brown pebbled leather pouch. Thread used throughout the construction is brown. Maker mark text in straight line. All aluminum fittings and all dividers are missing. The middle pocket lid is ink stamped "LBA BL39" and the unit "II/Flak 76". Handwritten name inside an outer pocket lid and what appears to be the same name written inside the middle lid strap.
