WWII German M1911 K98 Rifle Ammunition Pouch - Transitional Pattern Gallery

These are 1942 transitional pattern pouches from my personal collection. This type of pattern has two belt straps that wrap under each pocket and slips over a post. Hardware is steel although some aluminum fittings mixed with steel is possible.

WALSRODE
1942

Black pebbled leather, most of the pebbling is hard to see on the pockets giving the surface an almost smooth appearance. The pouch has aluminum and steel fittings. Equipment "D" ring is the only metal that is aluminum. All dividers are missing. There is a handwritten "81" inside the lid of an outer pocket lid. Pocket lid straps are weak. The center lid strap was most likely replaced since it is thicker than the straps at the ends. Black paint on steel fittings indicate that was a Russian capture. (20080806)

Light brown pebbled leather, transitional pouch with aluminum and steel fittings. All dividers present. Gray paint remains on steel equipment hook only. Looks to be unissued and is in mint condition, most likely Luftwaffe or Polize. There is the following numbers stamped on the equipment loop; "1" over "33". The maker code "ftq" is for "Landesliefrungsgsgenossenschaft (L.L.G.), Tapezier & Posamentierer-Handwerks, Sachsen-Anhalt eGmbH, Magdeburg". Number's also stamped on lid strap ends. (20070310-02)

Stonewall leather pattern on this transitional K98 pouch. All of the metal fittings are steel. White thread used in construction. Smooth leather vertical belt straps are under each of the two small lower straps. Black paint on fittings making this a possible Russian capture pouch. This black paint is completely intact under the equipment hook indicating this pouch has not been used with German WWII Y-strap hooks since it was applied. (20080104)
